Shared Time - Neighbourhood Festival

Nachbarschaftsfest in der Stuttgarter Kulturmeile

9 Jun 2024
14:00 - 17:00
ifa-Galerie Stuttgart und ifa-Innenhof
Charlottenplatz
70173 Stuttgart

The neighbourhood festival enters its second round: the cultural institutions on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße celebrate together with institutions on Schlossplatz and Charlottenplatz. The Main State Archive, the House of History, the University of Music and Performing Arts, the Art Museum, the Württemberg State Museum, the Stuttgart State Gallery, the Stuttgart State Theatres, the StadtPalais, the ifa Gallery of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations, the Württembergischer Kunstverein and the Württemberg State Library invite you to a diverse programme.
Workshops, guided tours and many activities await you in the ifa-Gallery Stuttgart under the motto "shared time".
Play chess in the ifa courtyard.
There are four chess places in the ifa's inner courtyard where you can play a challenging game. They connect with the chess games shown in the "Traces of Interest" exhibition in the ifa gallery. Since the 1970s, Fluxus artist Takako Saito has been developing different variations that focus on the shared action of playing: In Balance Chess, metal hats teeter on magnetic strips, while in Schnapps Chess the pieces consist of individual bottles - the only thing that counts is playing together.

Exhibition tour
16:30 - 17:30
The exhibition "Traces of Interest" is an artistic and curatorial exploration of the layers and histories of the extensive ifa art collection. The ifa's holdings comprise more than 24.000 works. Six contemporary artists will engage with the works in the art collection. They selected works and responded with their own video productions, sculptures, performances or sound installations. The exhibition combines ideas and works by the artists Isaac Chong Wai, Lizza May David, Wilhelm Klotzek, Ofri Lapid, Adrien Missika and Gitte Villesen with historical positions by Joseph Beuys, Erich Bödeker, Carlfriedrich Claus, Käthe Kollwitz, Joseph Kosuth, Takako Saito, Elisa Tan, Rosemarie Trockel, Günther Uecker and Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, among others.

Workshop - Discovering nature with clay
14:30 - 16:30
Children and young people are invited to explore the fascinating shapes and textures of natural materials and combine them with clay. They will be modelling, sculpting and can make imprints and patterns on their own pottery creations or add natural materials to the clay objects.
The workshop will be led by Juliane Tombiri, who works as a designer in Stuttgart. She works primarily with clay and is experienced in the production of everyday objects as well as free sculptural works.
A special highlight: the pottery objects will be fired by Juliane Tombiri in collaboration with Künstlerhaus Stuttgart West and can then be collected from the ifa gallery.

DJ collective Pirilâmpago
14:00 - 17:00
The DJ collective Pirilâmpago plays duets and choral songs - from gems from music history to pop.

Sweet and savoury waffles and drinks will be available for you.
The Open Bookshelf with catalogues from the ifa Gallery Stuttgart is also available for reading in the inner courtyard!
No registration necessary. Admission to the gallery is free.
